'Ten'ny Cherian commandments

Recently, one question in a MBA application got my mind rolling. The question was pretty straight forward and so seemed the answer to it but wasn't exactly so easy going. The question asked me "In your work experience, which manager/leader has impressed you the most? Tell in detail what qualities of this person you liked the most."
Now, i've really been fortunate to have worked with some very clear headed managers and also some not so clear headed. So, it really helps to compare. But even though i didn't work directly with him, Tenny Cherian, stands in a league of his own.  
But since i had not worked with him, my take was all based on second hand information or on an outsiders perspective, but then luckily i stumbled upon this blog on Cherian's Ten commandments by one of his team members, Shilpa Sehgal. The blog is very well written and explains each commandment in detail which in turn would help you know Cherian that I've known, even better.
The TEN commandments are as follows:

PEOPLE

  1. Complete Transparency within the team
  2. Power of Collective Intelligence…The HUDDLE!
  3. Cut the Crap….Don’t hog unnecessary air time
  4. Align for a Cause….Hunt as a Pack
  5. Connect the Dots…


WORK
  1. Cut the F***ing Deal!!!
  2. Use Humor to Break the ice
  3. Never Drop the Ball…Learn to Earn your ‘Pagar’

LIFE
  1. Family always comes first
  2. If you cannot do good…don’t do bad!

yup, the mission stands accomplished.. As i'd mentioned in my last post, i've finally completed my java evaluations n dat too in some great style. Guys, the scores for my java evaluations stand at 6 , 73, 80, 80, 66 ... What else can anyone ask more for. Its a great feeling to be where i've come today and the way i've managed to do it, is sumthing worth an extra topping. Friends yeah quality friends

Well i have been going through this re-evaluation phase of my life and found out i've suffered most because of my trait of "pleasing people" that i felt important to me in some way or the other. I've realised that part of my problem has been pleasing others. This has primarily been to remain liked, the routine guy and to avoid conflict, etc. All measures of my own insecurities. But lately I've been finding more and more that many of such people who I once considered friends, have actually been friends only because I've been a particular way with them, and if that 'way' has deviated in some way, then their friendship has waned or disappeared altogether.
